What I’ve been up to…

Hey, hey!  How are you doing today?  I’ve been super busy with my classwork recently, so posting has honestly been put on the back burner for a bit.  I’m still going to post at least 1-2 times a week, but it may not be consistent because I have so many priorities right now that something had to give. 😦

I realized recently that I haven’t shared much about my own health journey as much, and I want to rectify that because that’s why I started this blog in the first place! So let’s do some catching up today…

I haven’t had a true binge in awhile. I’m not exactly counting the days, but it’s probably been since September?  There are definitely still moments where I choose to overeat, and I’m working on that, but I’d say it’s still an improvement.  I make more of an effort to think through how I’m feeling and what I really need before choosing to overeat, and that has been a great tool.  Usually I’m able to identify the emotions behind why I’m wanting xyz food and think through the potential benefits or consequences.

This was especially helpful this week after I found myself frequently reaching for the treats that found their way into the house.  I was starting to feel out of control around my decisions and that’s a red flag for me, so I was able to avoid binge/overeating patterns by deliberately choosing if and when I had a treat instead of just grabbing cookies because they were there.

As for the types of food I’m eating?  I like to call my diet “clean-ish” :).  For the most part I stick to foods that make me feel good (high quality meats, veggies, and fats) with some treats sprinkled in here and there.  I’ve also been focusing on my hunger queues and digestion to help determine which foods are working well, and which I may want to avoid.  I’m honestly not as diligent about tracking how I feel after certain foods because I’m not great at remembering to journal or write things down.  It’s more like “hmm I’m feeling gassy today, what did I eat that’s different” sort of tracking…
