September Recap

Nothing has gone as planned today, so this is late coming out (thank you Verizon for taking your sweet time fixing our internet!) but here it is!

Wait, where did September go?!  I know I probably say this every month, but September really did fly by!  This month has been super busy for me both professionally and personally, and I’m really proud of the progress I made, but I am so ready for October! Fall really is my season; the colors, the food, the weather, it just all works.

If you read this post, you know I had issues with binge eating this month.  It lasted maybe two weeks, and usually this is around the time where I give up and stay in that negative head space.  Instead, I gave myself some grace, listened to my body, and worked on getting back into a healthy groove.  I know this won’t be the last time I have a setback, because progress isn’t a linear path, but I know now that setbacks can’t keep me down for long.

So, with that being said, lets talk about September: what worked, what didn’t, and did I lose weight?

What Worked:

Meal Planning – This was honestly a key part of how I was able to get back on track.  By sitting down and making plans, I was still making an effort to improve my health.  I may not have always followed those plans 100%, but I knew that if I stopped planning, I wouldn’t start again.  So this month I learned that planning our meals, even if we don’t follow the plan, is crucial for our health habits.

What Didn’t:

I haven’t made progress in being more active, and honestly, at this point I’m fine with it.  I have a lot going on in my life personally and professionally, and to add another area of focus right now may be too much.  For now I’ll focus on my food and mental state, and workout when I want to with no pressure of developing any routines or habits.

Did I lose weight? Nope. I’m exactly where I was a month ago, and I’m just fine with it.  This month was spent learning how to get back into a health mindset after binging, so I’m not at all surprised that it stalled my weight loss.  I’m still calling this month a success because I’ve learned about myself, and I didn’t give up.

Since there’s not really any physical progress I didn’t take new pics, but I did take some comparison pictures of how my clothes have changed.  It’s one thing to see numbers on a scale or measuring tape, but it feels so good to be able to fit into clothes that were tight before!
