Y’all, I wasn’t planning on posting today, but I learned a lesson that I need to share with you.
I stayed out super late (for me) last night visiting my oldest friends because one of them is leaving us soon to travel across the country! I had a great time talking and sharing our lives, but as a result I didn’t get into bed until after 11:30PM. I woke up around 5:30AM because I had to go into the office today, which means I got a fitful 5ish hours of sleep.
I didn’t think much of it at first. I mean, I know that sleep is important, but I figured one night of mediocre sleep wouldn’t be a big deal. I was SO HUNGRY today. I was looking for lunch by 10AM, and ended up eating an Epic Bar to keep the hangry feels away. It was the first time in almost a month that I’ve felt that hungry, and I was so confused. I was thinking through what I did and ate recently to find out why I was so hungry. I ate a solid breakfast that usually keeps me full for hours, so I was at a loss. It hit me in the afternoon that the only thing that’s different about today is that I didn’t get enough sleep last night.
So today I learned a lesson: sleep matters. If you struggle with hunger/cravings and are doing everything else “right”, try going to sleep a little earlier and see how you feel. Personally, I can’t wait to go to bed tonight and get my normal 8 hours. 😉
